What is a "lead distribution" and where do I set one up?
A lead distribution is a per-quote-engine rule that says when a lead lands on this widget, notify this destination by email or SMS, with these filters applied.
Find them on any quote engine's settings page under the Lead Distribution tab. By default, every engine notifies your account email — distributions let you forward copies to teammates, throttle volume, or route by state, age, coverage, premium, and more.
Can I route different quote engines to different agents on my team?
Yes. Each widget has its own distribution table, so a Medicare quote engine can route to your Medicare specialist while the FEX engine routes to a different agent.
Add one distribution row per destination (email or SMS), set the Send To field, optionally add filter rules, and toggle the row enabled.
What filter rules can I attach to a distribution?
A distribution row supports a rich set of conditions — only matching leads fire the notification:
- States — restrict to one or more US states
- Coverage amount range and Premium range
- Client age range and Gender
- Health class and Tobacco usage (smokers vs non-smokers)
- Lead status (app_request, quote_request, quote_select)
- Referring domain
- Leads per hour / Leads per day volume caps
Click the pencil icon in the Rules column on the distribution row to edit them.
How does round robin distribution work?
Flip the Round Robin switch on a distribution row and set a Ratio. The system batches incoming leads: once enough unsent leads have collected to meet the ratio, the batch goes out to that destination, then the next batch starts collecting for the next destination in the rotation.
Use it when you have multiple agents sharing a single quote engine's leads and want fair-share rotation rather than every agent being pinged on every lead.
What happens if I have no distributions set up?
The widget falls back to the default behavior — every lead emails your account email immediately, and (if you have a mobile and a qualifying plan) SMS too. No leads are dropped just because you haven't built a custom distribution.
Distributions are for when you want to change that default — adding teammates, filtering, throttling, or round-robin routing.
Can I temporarily turn off notifications for one widget without deleting the rules?
Yes. Each distribution row has an Enabled toggle. Flip it off and the row is paused — rules and filters stay saved, no notifications fire — until you flip it back on.
Handy when you're on vacation or testing a new quote engine and don't want the notifications.
